Kagando hospital prides in a very active rehabilitation unit which does more than ambulatory care and inpatient rehabilitation. We have had several partnerships in community rehabilitation bringing services to persons with different physical disabilities.
Last year, one of our seeds sprouted. Kagando Hospital together with Jaipur Foundation, Rotary Club Kasese, Rotary International joined forces in raising a now well furnished orthopedic workshop, “ George Buckley Memorial Workshop”. Sincere gratitude to these partners, Friends of Kagando, George Buckley family, Mr. Ochom Kenneth and Rev. Canon Benson Baguma our former Executive Director and the executive management of Kagando for their continued support towards our department.
Now, to complement the other services of wheelchair assembly and supportive seat fabrication, (leprosy) shoes and sandals, we offer lower limb prosthetic fabrication. The team is more than ready to take every client through the whole process from assessment, through fabrication, fiting and gait training.
Our goal is to help members of our community and beyond to regain their mobility, promote independence, aid them participate in community activities while living to their fullest potential. As the old saying goes, “ Disability is not inability”.
The department of Rehabilitation Kagando Hospital sends regards to our dearest friends of RAPCD (Rwenzori Association of Parents for Children with Disabilities) school. Thanks to World Vision for the wheelchairs, Motivation Uganda for the endless support and collaboration, and a special shoutout to Tim and Jackie Fowler for making the delivery of this service possible.
We are happy to share our memories of our school visits with these beautiful souls when schools were still open. We have visited a few in their homes. We continue to pray that God keeps them safe. We are aware that much as these times are difficult for everyone, the Children and adults with disabilities are facing unique sets of challenges.
Our community outreaches resume this month with Standard Operating Procedures as recommended for our safety and that of our clients.
