PHYSIOTHERAPY and rehabilitation

Also known as Physical therapy, physiotherapy this is the mode of treatment that does not involve use of chemicals such as those found in tablets or injections. Instead physical and mechanical entities such as the therapist’s hands, manual therapy techniques, electrotherapy equipment and exercise regimens etc are used to treat ailments.

SECTIONS AND ACTIVITIES
1.Physiotherapy

2.Orthopedic medicine

  • Untreated clubfoot
  • Other congenital bone deformities
  • Minor fractures

3.Orthopedic technology

  • Wheelchair service for children and adults
  • Artificial/ false limbs (Lower limb prosthesis)
  • Knee/ Ankle/Foot splints and braces

PHYSIOTHERAPY CAN BE USED FOR THE FOLLOWING:
• To promote physical health and fitness
• To improve performance of physical activities
• To prevent and treat body injury and disease
• To rehabilitate the body following injury and/disease

You will need to visit our Physiotherapist if you have any of the following common ailments;
• Muscle fatigue and body weakness
• Back pain and Sciatica
• Neck pain and Stiffness
• Joint stiffness and arthritis
• Mechanical chest pains
• Stroke, Parkinson’s, MS, Transverse myelitis, Spinal cord injuries and other neural conditions.
• Post injection paralysis
• Painful scars (keloids)
• Cerebral palsy (in children)
• Pelvic Inflammatory Diseases
• Post Natal pains, paralysis and weakness
• Weight loss and physical fitness
• Muscle, ligament and tendon sprains

Your physiotherapist will receive you, carryout a comprehensive assessment and proceed to treat you in the strictest confidence and privacy according to the hospital values. Your therapist will then give you a treatment program for you to follow at home and the hospital. Patiently explain yourself completely to the Physiotherapist present all necessary documents for your assessment such as medical forms X-ray radiographs, MRI,CT,U/S scan reports etc and follow the therapist instructions co-operatively. Ask all questions you deem important. Keep your appointments as given and make all payments at the hospital cashiers.

Anyone can come directly to the Physiotherapy department but it is always good to rule out other illnesses by visiting your Doctor, Physician or any other specialist such as Surgeon, Gynecologist etc, first.

FREE ARTIFICIAL LIMBS AT KAGANDO HOSPITAL 

Kagando Hospital rehabilitation department Supported by Rotary club is receiving support from the ITG Ministries for provision of Free Artificial limbs.

To benefit from this Program, you can visit Kagando Hospital.

The process will include;

  1. Asessment which will be followed by the fabrication of the Artificial limb.
  2. Returning for fitting and training ( after about 4 days)

Note: Patients cater for meals and transport only.
